Inspire Tennis Primary School Competition
Join the fun and play tennis every Saturday morning through the summer season. This is a great opportunity for junior players new to tennis right through to top grade. Compete against your peers while gaining valuable tennis skills, build sportsmanship, get team work experience, and make new friends.
What age must I be in order to play?
You will be eligible to play if you attend any Marlborough Primary School (as at 1 October), minimum age of 7yrs, up to School Year 8. Teams of 4-6 players, mixed genders, playing doubles and singles. If you are home schooled and would like to play, please contact our admin manager.
How do I register?
Register your participation with your school, around August, they form the teams and submit details to us. They will invoice you direct, do not pay us.
How can an adult help?
All teams must allocate a team manager, usually a parent. But it could be an older sibling, grandparent, aunt, anyone who can help each week. Knowledge of the game is useful but not essential. We will help them. They will be the contact person for all members of your team, attend each Saturday (or appoint another parent), and score the game (grades under Div 1). All helpers must complete and pass an online police check.
What if I move to Intermediate?
If you move to an Intermediate School from a Primary School prior to term 1, you must remain in the team for the remainder of the season. You can't opt out half way through!
How do I get put in the right grade?
We arrange for Inspire Tennis to visit all local schools during term 3 so make sure you put your name down for that with the school. The coach will get an idea of your level and can answer any questions you may have. For all grades except Division 1, there will be a grading day in or around the second weekend of October. This must be attended and is a normal playing day but points will not count. This is necessary to ensure players and teams are suitable for their grade.
When does it start?
Competition starts the weekend after Grading Day in October (no play Labour weekend) to mid December, then starts again in the New Year from early February to mid March.
What if it is raining?
We will post any weather updates on our FB page and on this site under the Latest Updates tab.
What if I can't play one week?
Always try and find another player to fill in for you. If you have trouble with that, talk to your team manager who will help find someone. If you know well in advance that you will be away, tell your team manager and give them lots of notice.
How do I check the results?
At the end of each morning of tennis the winning team manager must enter the results online in MatchPoint. You can check your teams progress here. Points table
Ensure you read the Rules on the rules page under the Junior Tennis tab.
