High Performance Tennis Unit
The Marlborough Tennis Association established the HPTU in 2010.
The objective of the HPTU is to gather together our best local tennis talent for regular coaching that will provide them with the necessary tools to develop into nationally ranked players. The cost is part funded by the MTA (25%).

COACHES
REILLY QUIRK
Inspire Tennis
Reilly has a vast amount of experience, having held coaching positions in both Wanganui and Nelson, before making the move to Blenheim in 2010 where he's been based since.
Reilly is head coach at the Marlborough Tennis Club and is the director of Inspire Tennis. Inspire Tennis is the contracted provider to Marlborough Tennis Association, a contract it has held since 2010. He was involved with the resurrection of junior tennis in Marlborough from mid 2010 and has helped build a strong Academy based program.
Reilly is Tennis New Zealand registered and holds an ITF Level One (Junior Development) coaching certificate. At the time of receiving this qualification he was in the first group of coaches to go through the current coaching course and the youngest person to pass the Tennis New Zealand/ Tennis Australia Junior Development course.

AMBER LYONS
Coach
Amber Lyons has recently taken on a full time coaching job within Inspire Tennis. Amber has been brought up playing Tennis since she was 10 years old. Amber has played in primary school competition and has represented Marlborough Tennis at a Junior and Senior Rep level.
Amber is studying a Sports Coaching Degree through Canterbury University and has passed her Tennis New Zealand Assistant Coaches course in early 2023.
Amber is excited to be involved with all things tennis in Marlborough from Junior Aces to Schools Coaching and Development Academy.

MATT HAIR
Coach
Matt has been involved in coaching tennis overseas for over 30 years and has recently returned to New Zealand. His coaching philosophy focuses on building strong relationships with each athlete that pays particular attention to the specific needs of each player.
Matt was based in Europe working for the Austrian tennis federation, VTV regional association and various academies and clubs throughout Europe.
Most recently Matt has been working with the WTA #55 and Austrian #1 Julia Grabher.
Currently Matt works closely together with Reilly Quirk at the Inspire Tennis Academy and is head coach at the Rapaura tennis club. Matt is the 2023 New Zealand women's Billie Jean King captain/coach.
